The summer after Matt accepted his position with OMF (see God provides – 1), we were blessed to be able to take a month long road trip to visit friends and family.
With a fussy 5-month old and a strong-willed, potty training 2 and a half year old.
And a tent.
To prove we had accomplished this feat, I came home sporting several new gray hairs and wrinkles (wasn’t I too young for those?). Come to think of it, those could also have been from the New York safari during which the open-air all terrain vehicle we were in was chased by an ostrich (that could have outrun the ATV) and we were told that some other large animal we were watching (a water buffalo, maybe) had charged at a tractor and torn it in half.
But we survived, wide-eyed and intact!
We really enjoyed visiting people (and still love to visit!) and the Lord provided all we needed (and we only had to use the tent a few times). After we returned, Matt was offered some unexpected hours at his old job. God provides!
In early August a full time position with benefits, also at his old job, came up. Because we realized support for missionary work is sometimes slow in coming, Matt applied and got the job, therefore fulfilling his life long dream of becoming a master pizza chef. Well, perhaps it was not his life long dream, but he really liked it and was provided with ample opportunity to use his gift of discipleship with the college students. And now he knows how to make really good pizzas. God provides!
